Depending on whether you meet the minimum guaranteed pension income requirement as set out by the Revenue, you may be required to invest in an AMRF before you are eligible to invest in an ARF.
An AMRF is similar to an ARF but there is a maximum investment amount for an AMRF, currently €63,500, which is set by the Revenue. You can only have one AMRF. You may take one withdrawal of up to 4% of the value of the assets of the AMRF each year. There is no Imputed Distribution on AMRFs.
After you turn 75, or meet the minimum guaranteed pension income requirements (whichever first occurs), your AMRF is treated in the same way as an ARF and you can take as much income as you wish. Imputed distribution rules will then apply to the fund.
